BUSINESS METHOD PATENTS

Provide your organization with what it needs to know about business method patents.

* Is your organization subject to liability for infringing a business method patent?

* Has your organization obtained needed business method patents on its new, useful and unobvious business methods?

The seminar covers:

1. An introduction to the basics.

2. If this seminar is re-offered, it will of course, focus heavily on the Bilski decision.

3. 35 U.S.C. 273 - defense to a business method patent based on being an earlier inventor

4. Manual of Patent Examining Procedures (MPEP), 706.03 and 2106.02 as to the portions that relate to business method patents

5. If this seminar is re-offered, it will of course, discuss Interim rules by the Patent Office on applying the machine-transformation test.

6. Strategies

The seminar time is 1.0 to 1.5 hours.

The cost is based on a reimbursement for the time Mr. Hoffenberg is away from his practice, travel expense and other expenses incurred in presenting the seminar.

Community Service and

Pro Bono

In addition to this education series, Mr. Hoffenberg gives of his time to benefit the community and contribute to the quality justice in the State of California. For many years, he served as a volunteer pro tem in the Municipal Court in traffic, landlord-tenant, small claims and short cause matters. Currently, Mr. Hoffenberg serves as a volunteer arbitrator for the Dispute Resolution Service in attorney-client fee disputes and as a quasi-volunteer mediator in the Court of Appeals.
